Recent reports by NBA insider Ian Begley suggest that the Los Angeles Lakers are closely monitoring their offseason options at center. Begley mentioned that if the Lakers add another big man to the roster, then Anthony Davis will have the opportunity to play more at the power forward position alongside a center.
“The Lakers have visited with some top centers in the draft. They have the No. 17 pick in the first round. The club could also obviously pursue a center in free agency. Adding a traditional big man would, in theory, allow Anthony Davis more opportunity to play power forward alongside a center.” Wrote.
The Lakers are facing financial constraints this offseason, so they will likely need to consider offering minimum contracts during free agency. Anthony Davis excelled while predominantly playing at center for the Los Angeles Lakers last season. Now that the NBA Finals are over and the upcoming month approaches, teams across the NBA are preparing for the Draft.

Anthony Davis Is Considered One of the Greatest Power Forwards of All Time
Anthony Davis, often considered one of the greatest power forwards of all time, had an impressive performance during the 2023-24 season. According to StatMuse, he averaged 24.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 76 games. However, despite his efforts, the Lakers were eliminated early in the first-round series against the Denver Nuggets.
The Lakers were upset after being eliminated and began making some tough decisions. They started by firing all the coaching staff, including head coach Darvin Ham. Since then, the franchise has been looking for a potential candidate to lead the team. There have been rumors that multiple candidates, including JJ Redick, have been considered for the head coaching position for the Lakers.
