The 2019-2020 season was not the year the Brooklyn Nets thought they would have after snagging Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in free agency, but injuries can derail any team and any season.
Next season is going to be a huge one with both superstars coming back 100%. When they do arrive, the team is reportedly hoping to have a championship minded coach in place.
Gerald Brown of Let’s Get Technical — a podcast starring former NBA forwards Rasheed Wallace and Bonzi Wells — said “there’s a story going around that the Brooklyn Nets are looking to make a Godfather offer to Gregg Popovich.”
Nets general manager Sean Marks spent the majority of his NBA playing career with the Spurs and also spent some time in their front office before taking the Brooklyn job in February of 2016.
Popovich has won five championships with San Antonio, collected 1,272 victories in the regular season and 170 in the playoffs.
The franchise’s best days appear to be behind them, and Pop might be looking to make his exit.
