DeMar DeRozan, since his move to the Bulls from the Spurs in 2021, has yet to cross the first-round hurdle with the Chicago franchise. The 6-time NBA All-Star has been the standout performer for the Bulls in all three seasons, but success remained grumpy of them. Now with another play-in exit behind them, the Bulls and DeMar are at a crossroads of an uncertain future.
Amid all the talks, DeMar DeRozan took to social media on Saturday to post a cryptic message. It seemingly indicated mental health issues and soon the social media gathered to support the 34-year-old who previously admitted his battle against depression. DeRozan was reportedly offered an $80 million 2-year contract by the Bulls, but he is yet to sign the dotted lines. As things stand, the talented forward could hit free agency in the summer. While all the tabloids are hatching their trade theories, DeRozan himself opened up about his future.
DeMar DeRozan Breaks Silence Over Bulls Future
Being a California native, it is no secret that DeMar DeRozan has an affinity for the Lakers. Recently, DeMar hinted at a potential move to the LA franchise, which could tick the box for them to bolster the team. But his return to the Bulls is also not completely out of the equation yet.
During a recent episode of the “Run It Back” podcast, DeRozan said, “It’s definitely somewhere I’d like to return to. No matter how tough the situation might look, I’m one of those guys that tries to stick it through and try to make something out of nothing. The city is great, I love the city, the organization been great. It’s definitely a place I would love to return to, and take care of unfinished business.”
The feeling should be mutual in this case as DeRozan had another fine season with the Bulls averaging 24 points in 79 games along with 5.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds. After qualifying for round one of the playoffs through a win over the Hawks in play-in, the Bulls were picked apart by the Heat. As DeMar mentioned, he indeed has some unfinished business which he’d like to take care of next season, given he prolongs his Chicago stay.
