I’d love to be able to congratulate Kevin Porter Jr. on recording his first ever NBA triple-double, but I just can’t bring myself to do it. It’s got nothing to do with the fact that he just barely made it there, recording 11 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds during the Rockets’ 102-89 victory over OKC.
Rather, it’s the manner in which he got that 10th rebound that makes this entire feat a complete sham.
With just over a minute remaining in the game, and KPJ sitting at 11 points, 11 assists and 9 rebounds, the Thunders’ Theo Maledon missed a three-point attempt, and the rebound went right to Rockets center Alperen Sengun. The big man could have easily corralled the board with no defenders around him. But instead, he blatantly tipped it back towards his teammates, who allowed the ball to roll around while instructing Porter Jr. to pick it up and secure his 10th rebound of the game.
Of course, KPJ obliged, and there you have it — the ugliest triple-double you’ll see all season. Check it out:
If you were lucky enough to bet on a Kevin Porter Jr. triple-double at +3700 odds, good for you.
