One of the great athletes in the world is LeBron James. He has shown that through his longevity in the NBA after he was drafted in 2003.
There have been conversations about LeBron possibly making waves in the NFL had he stuck with football instead of basketball.
Future Hall-of-Famer tight end Rob Gronkowski believes that the Los Angeles Lakers superstar would have crushed it on the gridiron and even points to the position that he would’ve dominated.
Gronkowski and former New England Patriots teammate Julian Edelman agreed that LeBron’s football potential would’ve been sky-high despite only having high school experience.
Gronkowski stated the four-time NBA champion has “freak” athletic qualities and thought he woud’ve been a beast at the tight end position.
“LeBron would have been an absolute monster on the football field,” Gronkowski said. “I can kind of see him being like the hybrid F tight end. He’s just so tall, but he’s got the athleticism to pull off the F position. I don’t see him being a true wide [receiver], throwing himself at defensive ends, D-ends that are like 280, 290, I don’t see him doing that, but I see him blocking the linebackers, blocking the safeties when needed. But also just dominating in the pass game, I mean, he’s a freak of an athlete… I just wanted to see his athleticism translated to the football field.”

LeBron James played just two years of football at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, but that was more than enough to have him named the No. 1 prospect in Ohio. One sportswriter described him as a “taller, slower version of Randy Moss,” per The Sporting News.
By his senior year, he hung up his cleats for good. It was reported it had something to do with the team’s poor quarterback play. Imagine if the team had the right quarterback and LeBron stayed with football.
