Despite having two of the NBA’s biggest stars, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, the Phoenix Suns have struggled to find their rhythm this season. With a 17-19 record so far, the team has fallen short of expectations and left fans questioning the reasons behind their underwhelming performance.
While there’s been no direct indication of tension between Durant and Booker, speculation has emerged about their relationship. On a recent episode of the Road Trippin’ podcast, former NBA player Richard Jefferson weighed in on the situation, claiming that the two stars are no longer on the same page.
“At what time has KD been teaming up with his boys to work out the way he would like? Because before, he loved Devin Booker. There was a mutual respect. Now, they’re not getting along. Don’t really mess with Bradley Beal. Bradley Beal’s out. Now, they’re gonna bring in Jimmy Butler potentially because that’s what K.D. wants,” Jefferson said.
Durant is averaging 27.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game this season. Meanwhile, Booker is also putting up stellar numbers, averaging 24.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 7.0 assists per game. Despite their on-court production, the Suns’ struggles raise questions about whether their star duo’s chemistry has been affected by the team’s inability to capitalize on their talent.
Kevin Durant Addresses Bradley Beal’s Bench Role Amid Suns’ Interest In Jimmy Butler
A recent report indicates that the Suns are pursuing Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat, as the Heat have started considering trade offers for the star forward. Meanwhile, the Suns have opted to bench Bradley Beal. Recently, Kevin Durant commented on the decision, claiming it as an opportunity for him to thrive.
“I think coming into the game now we’re giving him more opportunities with the ball in his hands. Is it really a change? You’re still playing a lot of minutes, getting his shots up. Last three games, I just feel like he’s more comfortable and understands where his shots are going to come from,” Durant said.
