This is just going to make Knicks fans feel even worse.
On Tuesday night, everything was seemingly lining up for the New York Knicks to grab the first overall pick, but then they heard their name called for the 3rd pick and all of their dreams died instantly.
Not only were the Knicks and their fan base unhappy, Zion Williamson was reportedly on board with the idea of playing in the big apple as well.
As soon as the Pelicans were announced as the winner of the 2019 NBA Draft, Zion was “quickly whisked out of the room,” according to ESPN’s Marc J. Spears.
The Knicks entered the NBA Draft with a 14% chance to win it, while the Pelicans only had a 6% chance. The odds should’ve been in the Knicks favor and they failed once again.

The New Orleans Pelicans won the lottery and will presumably select Williamson first overall. The Pelicans must also decide how to move forward on the Anthony Davis trade request.
