Jimmy Butler’s future with the Miami Heat has become a topic of significant speculation recently. While Butler had not openly expressed a desire to leave the team earlier in the season, recent reports suggest that he now wishes to be traded. The Miami Heat were initially unwilling to deal their star player. But they have acknowledged Butler’s request and are actively listening to trade offers.
Despite not having his best season, Butler remains a sought-after player in the league. NBA insider Marc Stein reports that multiple teams are already showing interest in acquiring him, including the Minnesota Timberwolves.
“When I relayed that to one well-placed source, I was told that ‘about half the league’ has made similar feelings known to the Heat as they try to concoct a trade that brings this saga to an end. That group is believed to include the Timberwolves, “ Stein reported.
The Timberwolves have struggled this season after trading Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks. They are looking to bolster their roster, but there’s a catch. They are not seeking to bring Butler back to Minnesota. But rather, they are willing to facilitate a trade as a third or fourth team.
According to Stein, the Toronto Raptors have also expressed willingness to assist in a potential Butler trade. Yet, they don’t intend to land him themselves. In fact, half of the NBA teams have reached out to the Heat with similar offers. They shared hope to play a role in helping Butler move to a new team.

Stein reports that Miami is determined to find a trade that works for both Butler and the team. There are growing concerns within the organization about the potential challenges of driving the rest of the season with a player who may prefer a move elsewhere.
As a result, the Heat are committed to considering all possible trade scenarios until the deadline. For now, Butler continues to play for the Heat, but the trade rumors around him are expected to intensify as the February 6 deadline approaches.
