The New York Knicks are making bold moves to reshape their roster and build a championship-caliber team. To clear up space and improve their chances, the Knicks have reportedly traded away almost all of their 2020-21 roster, with center Mitchell Robinson being the only remaining player.
The Knicks recently sent Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for star big man Karl-Anthony Towns. Despite Robinson’s status as the longest-tenured player on the team, his time in New York might end.
CBS Sports reporter Kris Pursiainen recently revealed that the Knicks’ front office has been actively fielding offers for the center.
“The New York Knicks are receiving and taking calls on center Mitchell Robinson, their longest tenured player. Sources familiar with the situation say the likelihood of a deal is unknown, but the team seems to be willing to make another move after the blockbuster add of Karl Towns,” the report read.
Mitchell Robinson’s Injury Update Adds More Uncertainty To His Knicks Future
Julius Randle is coming off a season averaging 24 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists. Nevertheless, the Knicks traded him. Hence, after Mitchell Robinson’s lackluster last season, the Knicks will probably try to trade him to get more veterans.
Moreover, Robinson’s recovery from offseason ankle surgery might not be going well. According to SNY reporter Ian Begley, Robinson is expected to miss the start of the upcoming NBA season.

“Knicks center Mitchell Robinson will not be ready for the start of the regular season. Depending on the rehab process, December/January is a target for Robinson’s return, per sources. Robinson is recovering from offseason ankle surgery. Knicks and Robinson do not want to rush the rehab process, and both want Robinson 100% healthy before his return,” SnyTv reporter Ian Begley wrote on X.
If Robinson is traded this offseason, it will mark the end of his six-year stint with the Knicks. Last season, he averaged only 5.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 0.6 assists.
