Russell Westbrook has been a polarizing figure within NBA circles for quite some time now. And it appears as though the Lakers are learning this pretty quickly.
According to CBS Sports’ Bill Reiter, not everyone within the Lakers organization was in agreement over the Russell Westbrook trade that took place at the Draft on Thursday night. The former NBA MVP was traded by the Washington Wizards, along with 2024 and 2028 second round picks, to the Lakers in exchange for Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell and the 22nd pick in the draft.
Today, Reiter talked about the trade, suggesting that it might mark the end of the Alex Caruso era in Los Angeles, while also spilling this interesting tidbit:
“There was a strong level of disagreement with the Lakers organization about whether or not Russell Westbrook was ultimately the person that they needed to pursue with the picks and the players, including Montrezl Harrell and Kyle Kuzma, who are now headed to Washington.”
The front office may not all be on the same page when it comes to the addition of Westbrook. But let’s be honest here, does that really matter? There’s only one person who’s feeling really matter in Laker Land right now, and that’s LeBron James.

So if LeBron is on board with the trade, then everyone else in La-La-Land better get on board as well.
