Recently, basketball fans observed two significant trades in the league just before the deadline. The ongoing tension between the Miami Heat and Jimmy Butler culminated in Butler’s transfer to the Golden State Warriors as part of a high-profile transaction. Notably, this intricate five-team trade resulted in Andrew Wiggins heading to the Heat, marking a pivotal shift in team dynamics.
In a recent segment of ESPN’s NBA Today, analyst Ohm Youngmisuk addressed the surprising Butler-Wiggins trade. In his analysis, he shared intriguing insider details regarding Wiggins’s reaction upon learning about his trade, which was truly noteworthy.
“I watch Andrew Wiggins warming up, and you could kind of tell he had this little look on his face that he knew something was up. And then he sits down like most players do after their pregame warm-up with an assistant coach to look at film but then that computer gets shut early. Both of them look at each other, and it looks like Wiggins has found out he’s been traded,” Youngmisuk said.

The trade transpired just as the Warriors prepared for their upcoming game, with players actively engaged in warm-up exercises on the court. Youngmisuk observed Wiggins exchanging a bump with Steph Curry and other players upon entering the court.
Steve Kerr Removed Media From Locker Room Before Revealing Andrew Wiggins Trade
During the interaction between Wiggins and Curry, Youngmisuk observed that he became aware of an ongoing situation. Consequently, he decided to follow Wiggins to the locker room, where he noted Wiggins appearing to check his phone. This moment preceded Head Coach Steve Kerr’s request for the media to exit the area.
“And that’s the first time I’ve ever been where the media has been kicked out of the locker room because the coach wanted to tell them that a trade has happened, but that’s kind of also the human side of Steve Kerr. I think a lot of teams when a pregame trade happens like that, you don’t see a coach go that far. And then when Kerr walked out, he had this gut-wrenching look on his face,” Youngmisuk said.
