REPORT: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Poised To Sign A Historic Eight-Figure Supermax Deal With Oklahoma City Thunder That’ll Blow Your Minds
If there’s anything more relieving for the Oklahoma City Thunders other than holding the top spot in the Western Conference, it gotta be Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. It’s petty for the league to talk so much less about a star who is going to be the highest-paid NBA player of all time.
Yes, on a serious note. The Thunder are acing any team and every team through their 31-6 record, and it has much to do with how Shai is performing. Let’s ignore the Cleveland Cavaliers halting their 15-game winning streak. As NBA insider Marc Stein reported, Gilgeous-Alexander is poised to sign a 4-year, $300 million supermax deal. If that sounds absurd, experts project his salary to reach $80 million by the 2030-31 season.
If the numbers sound big, it’s hard to ignore the Thunder star’s 31.5 average with 5.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game. He is also shooting an impressive 52.7% from the field. And it is almost promised that the star point guard will keep on stacking these numbers. He sounds as confident with the Thunder despite being a small-market team. According to him, he finds joy in playing at Oklahoma, and it does not make any difference to him if the team has a bigger cap size or not.

Under the NBA’s current collective bargaining agreement, Gilgeous-Alexander’s potential for a supermax deal hinges on meeting specific performance criteria. Currently, the highest salary belongs to Stephen Curry at $55.8 million, but Gilgeous-Alexander has the opportunity to surpass that marker significantly. He’s all set if he’s named to the All-NBA teams or wins major awards.

Shai stacked 27 points in the game while going 16-of-17 from the free-throw line. His milestone moment came at the charity stripe, he made just five of his 17 attempts during the game. Through and throughout the game, with SGA playing a key role, Oklahoma City consistently outperformed the Wizards.
They clocked over 30 points in each quarter and dominated the boards by outrebounding Washington by 18. The Thunder capitalized on defensive opportunities in a remarkable way. They scored 25 points off 18 turnovers they forced against their opponents. With the game well in hand, SGA contributed significantly. This allowed him to sit out the fourth quarter, a luxury that symbolizes the Thunder’s commanding performance and depth this season.
