On Saturday night, a notable incident occurred in the Philadelphia 76ers’ locker room involving star player Joel Embiid and Inquirer columnist Marcus Hayes. Tensions flared when Hayes approached Embiid to apologize for his recent article about Embiid’s family. The situation escalated when the 76ers star, frustrated, physically confronted Hayes by pushing him.
Reports indicate that Embiid was upset over Hayes’s comments, particularly about his family. However, after receiving negative feedback from the Sixers star, the columnist deleted his post. While many fans are wondering about the potential suspension for Embiid’s actions, an NBA analyst has shared some surprising news.
Recent reports from Sam Amick of The Athletic suggest that Embiid may make his season debut in the upcoming game against the Los Angeles Clippers. According to the reports, the Sixers star was seen working out before the recent game against the Phoenix Suns.
“The hope, as team sources shared Monday, is that Embiid could play as soon as Wednesday’s game against the LA Clippers (unless he’s suspended by then). He recently began practicing in five-on-five action, worked out extensively before the game against the Suns and is expected to take part in individual workouts Tuesday in Los Angeles that will set the stage for what comes next. Barring a setback, it seems likely there is an end in sight here very soon.” Sam Amick wrote in his recent reports.
The NBA is actively observing the recent physical altercation. There is a possibility that the star player from the Sixers may face suspension. Conversely, he will make his season debut if he does not receive a suspension.
Embiid Voices Discontent With Philadelphia Press
Since the new season began, Embiid has been dealing with multiple challenges. In addition to his recent altercation, the NBA fined the Sixers $100,000 last Tuesday for providing inconsistent information regarding Embiid’s health. Additionally, the 76ers had a disappointing start to the season. Without their star player, they are currently on a 1-5 record.

Before the physician altercation, Embiid held a press conference and expressed his frustration with the Philadelphia media, particularly Marcus Hayes. The Sixers star criticized Hayes for an article that mentioned his son and late brother.
“Like that dude, he’s not here, Marcus… I’ve done way too much for this f***ing city to be treated like this.” Embiid said.
Sixers’ Fans are eagerly excited about Embiid’s season debut after missing initial games due to health issues.
