The Orlando Magic are not having the best start to the 2019-2020 season and the front office seem dead set on correcting things in a big way.
At the start of the season, they moved Markelle Fultz into the starting lineup to try and give their offense a boost, but they could seriously use more player to bring it altogether.
On Wednesday, The Ringer’s Kevin O’Conner reported that the team is interested in acquiring San Antonio Spurs guard DeMar DeRozan.
DeRozan is eligible to become a free agent next summer just by declining his $27.7 million player option, but O’Conner also noted that the Spurs could move him much sooner.
“Multiple league sources say the Magic are scouring the trade market for scoring help and have already expressed interest in trading for DeRozan,” O’Conner writes. “It would surprise none of the front-office executives I’ve spoken with if the Spurs did move DeRozan.”
The four-time All-Star found himself suddenly traded to San Antonio just prior to the 2018-2019 season in exchange for Kawhi Leonard. As of right now, DeRozan is averaging 19.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game on 49% shooting.
