The New York Knicks’ acquisition of Mikal Bridges was the most notable transaction in the offseason. However, a number of experts still believe that they are likely planning another major move. According to recent reports, the Knicks are considering to trade Julius Randle to the Minnesota Timberwolves for All-Star center Karl-Anthony Towns.
This rumor comes after the Knicks secured Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets in a blockbuster trade earlier this summer. Knicks Fan TV personality CP “The Fanchis” reports suggest the Knicks are hunting for a versatile big man with outside shooting ability and matchup challenges. Karl-Anthony Towns has the qualities that the team is looking for.
During the Bleacher Report live stream, Casey Powell stated, “I don’t think they’re [the Knicks] done. I think there’s one more move they want to make. I think there’s a big swing they want to make. Well, think about this, right, we talked about all the moves they made this offseason to get themselves some more wiggle room with the cap, right.”
He ensured, “They didn’t sign Julius Randle to an extension. …They’re bigger fans of Karl-Anthony Towns [than Randle]. They want Towns. …[The Timberwolves are] in a little bit of a tricky spot where they could use some savings. And I can tell you, the Knicks want Towns, man.”
New York Knicks Interested to Sign 27-year-old Guard
Landry Shamet is a seasoned guard with six years of experience. He is renowned for his sharpshooting abilities. Recently, he has become a hot commodity on the NBA free agent market. HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reports that the Knicks may sign the 27-year-old guard to strengthen their team for the upcoming championship.
Scotto claimed, “The New York Knicks have explored adding more shooting depth on the free agent market by expressing interest in Latvian forward Davis Bertans, as previously reported by HoopsHype, and guard Landry Shamet, league sources told HoopsHype”
So, the Knicks find themselves in competition with the Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, and Minnesota Timberwolves for the veteran guard. All of them are keenly interested in signing Shamet. However, the NBA free agency period is still in its early stages, and Shamet’s signing will be one to watch in the coming days.
