According to reports, Kevin Durant, a standout for the Suns, was not interested in rejoining the Golden State Warriors. Marc Stein, however, believes that his bond with Draymond Green may be the reason he turned down the Warriors.
Stein did not specifically address Durant’s lack of interest in the Warriors. However, this information suggests that Draymond Green may be a contributing factor. One of the Warriors’ longest-tenured players has been crucial to the team’s four championship runs.
Stein reported, “His final season as a Warriros in 2018-19 was of course marked by a devastating Achilles injury. As well as a growing belief that he wanted a dramatic change of scenery (which he found in Brooklyn). And no longer wanted to play alongside Draymond Green.”
From 2016 to 2019, he and Durant played together, winning two titles and making three consecutive Finals appearances. Durant, Draymond, Stephen Curry, and Klay Thompson joined together to build a historically great team that conquered almost every challenge.
However, Durant’s decision to go months later was affected by a falling out with Draymond Green during his last season with the team. Following an encounter in which they acted like rivals, the former teammates had a memorable moment on the sidelines that went viral online.
Kevin Durant Expresses His Desire To Play With His Former All-Star Teammate Kyrie Irving

Although Durant and Irving joined the Nets in 2019, their relationship ended in a dramatic implosion after just three seasons. Durant and Irving made an effort to remain together and continue their run on a new club even after they parted ways.
After being traded by the Suns to the Mavericks in 2022, Irving will now join Klay Thompson and Anthony Davis to create a new big three. Kevin Durant, meanwhile, ended up in Phoenix, where he had initially intended to go. The Suns have had moments of brilliance with Bradley Beal and Devin Booker, but they haven’t left a lasting impact.
