Cleveland Cavaliers guard Ty Jerome has become the latest professional athlete to fall victim to a home burglary. Jerome’s residence in Los Angeles was burglarized last week while he was away on a road trip with the Cavaliers.
The incident occurred on Friday, January 17, according to a report from TMZ. The robbery reportedly involved the robber breaking into Jerome’s home through a glass window. Authorities stated that the intruder left the premises shortly after gaining entry. At this time, it remains unclear whether anything was stolen during the incident.
“Cops say the criminals took off a short time after getting in—and as of now, it’s unclear what—if anything—was taken,” TMZ’s report noted.
Jerome, who was not in Los Angeles during the break-in, is expected to work with authorities to determine what may have been stolen. This incident follows a troubling trend targeting professional athletes. Last year, the FBI issued warnings to professional sports leagues, cautioning players about an increase in home burglaries.
These crimes often exploit the predictable travel schedules of high-profile players, leaving their homes vulnerable to such attacks. Jerome is not the first NBA player to face such an ordeal. Last year, Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic, Milwaukee Bucks star Bobby Portis, and Minnesota Timberwolves guard Mike Conley Jr. were also victims of robbery.

“It’s seamless when they get into the game; they play how we want to play,” Atkinson said.
Ty Jerome had a standout performance, recording 15 points, four rebounds, and four assists. His efforts on the court played a crucial role in the Cavs’ success. So far this season, Jerome is averaging an impressive 10.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.
