The NBA has come down hard on Kyrie Irving after photos surfaced of the Brooklyn Nets guard at an indoor party last weekend.
Irving was fined $50,000 and will not be eligible to play until January 16th, after quarantining for the required amount of time. Irving was spotted at his sister’s birthday party over the weekend. He was not wearing a mask at the indoor event and was around dozens of other patrons.
The NBA’s rules prohibit players from “attending indoor social gatherings of 15 or more people or entering bars, lounges, clubs or similar establishments.”
Kyrie will also forfeit more than $400,000 in salary for the games he missed while in quarantine.
Irving last played on January 5th, in a game against the Utah Jazz.
Here’s footage from the party Irving attended, which has since put him in hot water with the Nets and the NBA.
