Paul George has declined his $48.8 million option with the Los Angeles Clippers for the 2024-25 season, making himself one of the top players available in the free agent market this summer. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has identified the teams now on George’s radar.
According to Wojnarowski, George is set to hold free agent meetings with the Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Orlando Magic.
“Paul George is planning to take free agent meetings with the Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Orlando Magic beginning late Sunday night and Monday on the West Coast,” Wojnarowski reported.
In a recent press conference, the Clippers’ president expressed the team’s desire to retain George. However, given the stalled extension talks with the Clippers, there were hints that George might explore the open market. George has made the Clippers’ decision even more challenging by opting out of his deal.
Warriors’ Pursuit of Paul George Falls Short Due to Clippers’ High-Asking Price
The Golden State Warriors were reportedly in the running to acquire Paul George if he left the Clippers, as suggested by Brett Siegel from ClutchPoints. However, Siegel recently disclosed that while the Warriors had hoped to secure George in a possible trade following an opt-in, negotiations fell through due to the Clippers’ high asking prices.

“The Warriors had aggressively pursued George in recent days, but were not willing to meet hefty asking prices from the Clippers in a potential opt-in scenario. Now, George reaches unrestricted free agency and will be the best player on the open market this summer,” Siegel reported.
George is coming off his ninth career All-Star season. Last season, he averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game in 74 starts.
