The rumor mills surrounding the Lakers’ vacant head coach role keep spinning as the search almost rolls into its seventh week. JJ Redick was tipped as the frontrunner to land the job and join his podcast partner LeBron James, but the scenario keeps changing.
According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers have yet to offer Redick the job. It was previously speculated that the former Magic guard would take charge of the Lakers’ locker room after the conclusion of the NBA Finals.
But that has been far from the case. Among the other candidates are James Borrego and Sam Cassell, but the former is reportedly on the radar of multiple other franchises, including the Cavs and the Pistons, who recently fired Monty Williams.
Redick has now also emerged as an option for the Motor City franchise, causing notable concern among the Lakers nation.
