With Amazon and NBC taking the league’s broadcasting rights starting from the 2025-2026 season, there could be some necessary adjustments that need to be made. The first potential one could be the rescheduling of the Emirates NBA Cup, widely known as the in-season tournament.
Recent reports indicate that the tournament, which usually begins in the middle of November, will be moved to early December. The competition will continue for five weeks.
The change is due to Amazon’s coverage of NFL games. The NBA and Amazon could agree to the new change to avoid overlapping dates.
The NBA Cup tournament has gained a lot of popularity according to last year’s viewership when the Lakers were crowned as the winners. This year could also witness a similar rise in views following the rebranding of the competition.
The schedule for the second year of the NBA Cup has already been disclosed. The thrilling competition will start on November 12, and the champions will be declared on December 17.
