The Los Angeles Lakers are navigating a challenging start to the season, sitting at a 10-7 record after a recent loss to the Denver Nuggets. This defeat was particularly disheartening, as it marked the Lakers’ second home loss. It also served as a painful reminder of the Nuggets’ dominance last season, which ended the Lakers’ NBA title aspirations.
During the offseason, the Lakers kept a low profile, refraining from any significant roster changes. This decision drew mixed reactions from fans, many of whom were eager for the team to add a third superstar to complement LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Despite the silence, recent reports suggest that the Lakers may be looking to address this gap by pursuing a high-impact player, particularly a big man, to strengthen their roster.
One interesting scenario has been proposed by Anthony Irwin of ClutchPoints, who suggested a blockbuster trade that could bring Paul George to Los Angeles. In this hypothetical deal, the Lakers would receive George, while the Philadelphia 76ers would acquire D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, Jaxson Hayes, or Cam Reddish, and two future first-round picks (2029 and 2031).
“In just basketball terms, George makes a ton of sense. He’s a knockdown three-point shooter, especially in catch-and-shoot opportunities. He can handle the ball, too, which helps when either Davis or LeBron James is off the floor. Athletically, he’s still got enough in the tank to defend well, too. In theory, it’s perfect,” Irwin wrote.

Reaves scored a team-high 19 points and also added six assists against the Nuggets. However, his efforts were overshadowed by the Nuggets’ star center, Nikola Jokic, as his all-around brilliance proved too much for the Lakers to handle. Jokic finished with 34 points, 13 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.
