The talk of Giannis Antetokounmpo possibly leaving the Milwaukee Bucks in free agency have only gotten louder since the team has gone down 0-2 in their second round series against the Miami Heat.
In the other series, the Toronto Raptors find themselves down 0-2 as well to the Boston Celtics.
According to Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports, there are many within the NBA’s bubble who see Miami as well as the Raptors as two of the most likely destinations for Antetokounmpo should he decide to part ways with the Milwaukee Bucks.
“It’s no wonder many in league circles believe Miami and Toronto are the frontrunners in the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes, with one observer telling Yahoo Sports ‘it’s an open secret’ within the Orlando bubble,” Goodwill wrote.
“Miami looks like the perfect mistress with their culture, the ability to morph into different identities at a moment’s notice but yet still feel like a team playing within itself.”
The Heat always planned to pair All-Star Jimmy Butler with another alpha ever since Butler arrived in South Florida last summer.
As far as the Raptors go, Giannis already has a fan base there as Toronto has one of the largest Greek communities in North America, and they came out in full force on New Year’s Day in 2018 to greet him after the Bucks took on the Raptors.

NBA insider Marc J. Spears of ESPN has also linked the Greak Freak to Toronto back in 2019.
“It helps that Toronto general manager Masai Ujiri has a long-standing connection with Antetokounmpo and his family, reportedly having helped them immigrate to Greece from Nigeria.”
