New Sacramento Kings coach Luke Walton has been accused of sexual assault in a lawsuit by a former sports reporter.
On Monday, Kelli Tennant filed the suit in Los Angeles County Superior Court as she alleged Walton assaulted her in a hotel room in Santa Monica while he was an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors.
Even though she waited to report about the incident now, it seems the allegations never made their way to law enforcement.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Santa Monica police say they never received a report accusing Walton of wrongdoing, nor are they investigating the alleged crime.
“There has been no report made to the Santa Monica Police Department,” Lt. Candice Cobarrubias said in a statement. “No investigation is ongoing.”
“The accuser is an opportunist, not a victim, and her claim is not credible. We intend to prove this in a courtroom,” Mark Baute, Walton’s attorney, said in a statement to several media outlets.
The lawsuit goes to paint a disturbing picture about Walton allegedly “pinned Ms. Tennant on the bed, placing his hips and legs over her body.” He then “began forcing kisses on her neck, face and chest.” It goes on to state she yelled for him to stop and tried to free herself as Walton groped her breasts and groin area while continuing to forcibly kiss her as he “rubbed his erection on her leg.”
“She was afraid she was about to be raped,” the suit contends.
