Blake Griffin has officially retired from the NBA after a 15-year career, but he’s not stepping away from the spotlight just yet. Instead, Los Angeles Clippers’ Lob City star Griffin is attracting attention from top media outlets interested in bringing his charisma to the screen.
According to a recent report by Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, the former player has become a hot candidate in the world of sports broadcasting. Amazon Prime is among the first to express interest, reportedly eyeing Griffin for a studio role that could make him “the face” of their NBA coverage.
McCarthy noted that Griffin’s potential with Amazon Prime is seen as similar to Charles Barkley’s role on TNT Sports’ Inside the NBA. “Griffin could be positioning himself to lead Amazon Prime’s coverage much as Charles Barkley has on TNT Sports’ Inside the NBA,” McCarthy noted.
But Amazon isn’t Griffin’s only option. The report suggests Griffin is “making the rounds,” indicating he might also be exploring opportunities with other networks like NBC or ESPN. NBC Sports, in particular, could be a possibility, as it plans to re-enter NBA coverage for the first time in 20 years. Moreover, ESPN could also be a potential landing spot for the 35-year-old Griffin.
