The Los Angeles Lakers’ legend, LeBron James, has relentlessly bolstered the team’s roster. After narrowly missing out on Klay Thompson for the Dallas Mavericks due to Kyrie Irving’s persuasive efforts, James has turned his attention to acquiring Jerami Grant.
According to Chris Haynes, James has set a clear deadline for the Lakers’ front office to engage in discussions with the Portland Trail Blazers regarding Grant’s potential acquisition.
“Bron is giving FO a week. The Lakers have had exploratory talks with Portland on Grant. I project they will make a significant move,” Haynes reported.
If it materializes, Grant will be a substantial upgrade for the Lakers. This isn’t the first time Los Angeles has shown interest in Grant. Their admiration for him dates back to his tenure with the Detroit Pistons.
Los Angeles Lakers Eyeing Jerami Grant as Key Offseason Target
Jerami Grant completed the initial year of a substantial five-year, $160 million contract he inked last offseason. His current deal ties him to the Portland Trail Blazers until 2027, with the option to assess his future in the 2027–28 season.
Meanwhile, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype also reported that LeBron’s team has been discussing a potential trade for Grant with the Blazers.

“In addition to DeRozan, another notable player the Lakers have interest in besides DeRozan is Blazers forward Jerami Grant,” Scotto reported.
Anthony F. Irwin, a prominent Los Angeles media personality, weighed in on the potential trade, indicating that the Lakers may need to part ways with two first-round picks to secure Grant’s services.
This hefty price reflects Grant’s impressive performance last season. The 30-year-old averaged 21.0 points and 2.8 assists per game in 54 appearances for the Blazers.
