Well, nobody saw this one coming.
It is being reported that LeBron James and Kyrie Irving have had discussions about a possible reunion in Los Angeles with the Lakers. The pair previously spent three seasons together in Cleveland, making it to the Finals all three years and winning the title in 2015-16.
There is no doubt that James and Irving had a ton of chemistry on the court. The results speak for themselves. However, their relationship seemed to have taken a turn for the worse, with many people believing that Kyrie did not like playing second fiddle to LeBron.
Whatever happened in the past between the two seems to be ancient history at this point, as a credible source is reporting that the two have had serious discussions about playing alongside each other once again.
In order for this to become a reality, there would likely need to be other transactions made, as Kyrie is still under contract for next season with a cap hit of over $36 million. Also, what would the Lakers do with Russell Westbrook, as he is on the books next year for a whopping $47 million?
Perhaps the Lakers can send him to Brooklyn so he can reunite with his old teammate from OKC, Kevin Durant. Whatever ends up happening, it is sure to be another eventful off-season in the NBA, full of player movement and plenty of drama.
