During a recent interview with CBS Sports, LaVar Ball blamed the NBA training staff’s and Puma’s ‘raggedy’ shoes for his son’s injuries. LaVar talked about Lonzo and LaMelo’s continuous struggles with their injuries. Due to ankle problems, LaMelo was limited to playing in just 36 games in the previous season and 22 games this one.
“The reason they hurt is because they got away from me. And they start doing these rooty-toot workouts. Because if you keep running them hills, you’re going to keep that power and that strength. But you start dealing with these rubber bands and doing this lightweight stuff, of course you’re going to start breaking down… A lot of things have to do with them raggedy shoes that Melo be wearing. Them shoes are not made the right way for him. That’s why he keeps tweaking his ankle every single time.” Ball said during that interview.

Before his 2020 rookie season, LaMelo secured a deal with PUMA for signature trainers. Three models have been released under Ball’s signature label since then, the most recent being the PUMA MB.03. Each pair of trainers has eye-catching patterns, vibrant hues, and top-notch technology.
Other NBA and WNBA players signed to PUMA have not experienced any problems with the PUMA MB line, despite LaMelo’s unfortunate string of injuries. It’s also critical to keep in mind that LaVar’s business, Big Baller Brand, had its share of issues with quality control.
The good news is that things are moving forward on both fronts. Lonzo recently graduated to more difficult exercises, suggesting that he may finally be recovering and on pace to make a comeback after so long of being unable to run or jump.
