Jimmy Butler’s conflict with the Miami Heat continues to escalate. Recently, the Heat suspended Butler for the third time, which has fueled more intense trade rumours surrounding him. Previously, the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns reportedly showed interest in acquiring Butler. However, there are doubts about how well he would fit with the Warriors.
According to Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo Sports, Steve Kerr, the head coach of the Golden State Warriors, and star player Steph Curry have expressed concerns regarding Butler’s potential fit within their locker room dynamics.
“My league sources say that Stephen Curry, specifically, has concerns about Jimmy Butler’s fit in the locker room. And Steve Kerr shares those feelings. So, Golden State’s indecision about trading for Butler seems to be largely tied to Steph and Kerr’s worries about a personality fit…It should surprise nobody if the Warriors end up holding onto their pieces and waiting for the summer.” O’Connor said.

Curry and Kerr’s apprehensions concern how Butler’s playing style and personality might align with the team’s culture and chemistry.
Miami Heat Concerned About Teams Creating Cap Space to Acquire Jimmy Butler
Previously, Butler publicly shared his desire for a trade during an interview, which led to his first seven-day suspension. Subsequently, when he missed a flight to the game against the Milwaukee Bucks, they suspended him for a second time.
On Monday, the Heat announced that they suspended Butler indefinitely for at least five games. The reasons are Butler’s consistent pattern of violating team rules, engaging in conduct detrimental to the team, and intentionally withholding his services.

This situation brought the Heat and Butler close to a conclusion. However, O’Connor reported that the Heat is worried another team might create salary cap space to sign Butler by offloading salaries into the Brooklyn Nets’ cap space.
“The Heat have lowered their asking price for Butler because they’re tired of his act, and they’d like to get something in return instead of letting him walk in free agency for nothing. There’s a fear in Miami that the Nets could absorb salaries this offseason to free cap space for a team, such as the Rockets, to outright sign Butler.” O’Connor said.
