The Los Angeles Lakers are falling further and further down the Western Conference with LeBron James out with an injury and time is running out for them to make a move to improve the current roster.
With the team being a putrid 5-10 without The King — the Lakers are reportedly looking to add some serious fire power before the trade deadline, even if it means getting rid of some of their top young talent.
Some of that young talent include Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma and Brandon Ingram, according to Bill Oram of The Athletic reports.
The second is obviously the priority, even if it means parting with some combination of Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma. Ideally, the Lakers would be able to land a second star in free agency and keep the core intact. However, with Anthony Davis unlikely to become available by the deadline, that particular dilemma may be a moot point this season.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Davis doesn’t plan on requesting a trade during the 2018-2019 season and that he will do a “full evaluation” of his career with the New Orleans Pelicans this summer.
If the Lakers are serious about competing for a championship in year one with having LeBron James, they need to make a move now.
