The dynamic duo of LeBron-Kyrie could be headed back once again, but not in Cleveland this time.
Years after forcing his way off the Cleveland Cavaliers because he had become sick of living in LeBron’s shadow — Kyrie is growing more open to the possibility of signing with the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency and playing alongside LeBron again, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.
“I would’ve said that this is impossible for many months,” Windhorst said on ESPN radio. “But as time passes here and as the possibility exists that Jason Kidd could be hired as the Lakers coach, I think the possibility of Kyrie and LeBron reuniting—that door, which was deadbolted, has been un-deadbolted and has now been cracked open,” he said. “It might even be opening more by the day. And I say that just because I think it’s on Kyrie’s radar, it’s on Kyrie’s board. He has had discussions with people about playing for the Lakers.”
With the way the Celtics’ season went down the drain to the tune of 4-straight losses to get eliminated by the Milwaukee Bucks — many experts believe Kyrie is on his way out of Bean town, although most of rumors have him headed to the New York Knicks instead.
Two years ago, LeBron and Kyrie had a very public divorce that had much to do with Irving not wanting to be stuck in Cleveland after LeBron’s impending departure from the franchise again.
Irving was excited to lead a team of his own, but once he got a taste of teammates not living up to his own expectations, it ended up with him realizing what Bron was going through as a leader which made him call LeBron and apologize for their initial falling out.
