During a recent game between the Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks, Kings guard Malik Monk was injured and left the game. This happened when Malik Monk collided with Luka Doncic, and after that, Doncic fell on Monk.
According to Shams Charania, Malik Monk is feared to have suffered a sprained MCL in his right knee and will undergo further testing. Kings fans are surprised by this news, as the guard will not be able to play the upcoming games.
The Kings are losing some important players, as last month shooting guard Kevin Huerter also got injured with a labral tear earlier this month and will not be able to play the rest of the season.
Following their 107-103 loss to Mavericks, the Kings are currently eighth in the Western Conference, two games behind the Mavericks for the No. 6 seed, and out of the play-in round. The Lakers are only 1.5 games behind Sacramento for the ninth seed, and the Kings need to win two games to get to the actual playoffs. Therefore, Sacramento needs to pile up some victories.
Without Monk, the kings will be at a great loss. This season, he leads all NBA backups in points and assists, making him the league’s most supportive player. He closes most games and is the Kings’ third-best playmaker in critical situations.

How long will Malik Monk be out this season?
The severity of Monk’s injury determines how long he is out. For a less serious sprain, it may just take a few weeks, or roughly the remainder of the regular season. Should the sprain worsen, Monk may miss the entire postseason.
Monk has been an important part of the Kings’ offensive strategy this season, coming off the bench to average 15.4 points and 5.1 assists while shooting 35% from three and regularly finishing games for the club. He is seen as the clear favourite to win the Sixth Man of the Year award.
