On the outside looking in, Kawhi Leonard might seem like a guy who doesn’t talk much, but he clearly says a lot when a camera and microphone is being shoved in his face.
Kawhi Leonard called Kevin Durant and asked him to consider joining the Los Angeles Clippers days before the opening of free agency, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.
“They’d be a great complement to each other, Leonard told Durant. He’d always admired him and had tremendous respect for him as a competitor.
Durant was flattered and more than a little stunned, according to sources close to the situation. He didn’t know Leonard that well, so getting a recruiting call like that made a real impression.”
KD would go on to join Kyrie Irving on the Brooklyn Nets.
Leonard would soon turn his attention to Paul George which is how the Clippers were able to throw everything at them to get him into town to get Leonard to agree to a contract.
