Kawhi Leonard reportedly was extremely talkative during the offseason before making his free agent decision.
It was already reported that Leonard had reached out to Kevin Durant & Jimmy Butler about joining the Los Angeles Clippers with him, but the 2-time NBA Finals MVP also tried to recruit Kyrie Irving as well, sources tell Zach Lowe of ESPN.
Irving had already settled on joining the Brooklyn Nets well before Leonard contacted him. One executive said Leonard “found his voice” during this process.
He would eventually reach out to Paul George and convince him to request a trade from the OKC Thunder and that’s exactly what happened.
One only knows what Kawhi would’ve done if George wasn’t traded and where he could’ve ended up.
