The Isaiah Thomas era in Denver seems to be over before it really got a chance to get off the ground.
Head coach Michael Malone talked about removing the former MVP candidate from the team’s rotation after just nine games played for the team.
“It’s never about Isaiah. It’s never about any individual,” Malone said after the Nuggets’ 133-107 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday, according to the Denver Post’s Sean Keeler. “It’s about what I think is best for our team. And I made the decision to shorten the rotation, only played eight guys in the first quarter. And I’m going to continue to do that for the time being.”
This was Thomas’ first DNP since being activated on Feb. 13. Thomas is so far out of the rotation that he didn’t even play garbage minutes during the blowout of the Timberwolves.
Despite his struggles on the court, Thomas had to deal with the fact that point guard Monte Morris is emerging as a viable player that is averaging 10.4 points in 24.3 minutes per game.
After logging in 76 games with the Boston Celtics in 2016, IT has played a total of 41 games for the Lakers, Cavaliers, and Nuggets.
