The Golden State Warriors are making it difficult for Andrew Wiggins on the international stage. During the off-season when most of the players are called for serving national duties, the forward has to stay back due to the franchise’s restrictions.
The Canada men’s basketball team will be taking part in the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, they cannot get their veteran forward on board as the Warriors are reportedly acting as the obstacles.
As per Doug Smith, “Andrew Wiggins out of Canadian Olympic picture, according to a source. Golden State Warriors playing hardball with veteran they are looking to move. Canadian team opens camp later tonight.”
Prior to this, Wiggins was one of the selected members of the Canadian team. The squad has a higher chance of racing for the gold medal following last year’s success in the FIBA World Cup. But alas, this might not be the opportunity for the 29-year-old.
The Warriors are adapting to changes while keeping their core team off the trade market. They have their strategies planned and are a step ahead in making a decision about their point guard, Chris Paul.
Golden State Warriors to Make Chris Paul Decision
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Warriors could push Friday’s deadline that Chris Paul has in his $30 million option contract. This would give the franchise the benefit while deciding the LA Clippers‘ Paul George’s fate. The original deadline was on Friday but as per reports it has moved to Sunday. Two more days would give both Paul and the Warriors ample time to explore the other trade options.

The 12-time All-Star just spent a season with the Warriors but Chris Paul failed to impress with his averages of 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 6.8 assists in 58 appearances. On the other hand, they are eyeing Paul George’s replacement for their veteran Klay Thompson, who also has a huge decision to make about his future at the franchise.
While many believe George would be a mismatch for the Warriors, the rumors of his arrival have always sparked enthusiasm among the GSW fans.
