The Charlotte Hornets are currently navigating a rocky beginning to the 2024-25 NBA season. After a close game ending in a 104-107 loss to the Atlanta Hawks, the Hornets find themselves in 12th place within the Eastern Conference, holding a record of six wins and 14 losses. A popular NBA analyst recently reported the Hornets are signing a G-League player.
Forward Grant Williams recently sustained a torn ACL in his right knee, prompting considerable worry among fans. Nevertheless, amid these challenges, an unexpected and exciting development has surfaced. Recent reports from Shams Charania indicate that the Charlotte Hornets are in the process of signing former Miami Hurricanes star Isaiah Wong.
“The Charlotte Hornets are signing guard Isaiah Wong to a two-way NBA deal from the G League’s Salt Lake City Stars, agent Darrell Comer of Tandem told ESPN. Hornets are adding depth amid injuries. Wong, a former second-rounder, has averaged 24.1 points in the G League this season.” Shams Charania wrote in his latest post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The Indiana Pacers chose Wong as the 55th overall pick in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft. He made his NBA debut in the finals of the 2023 NBA In-Season Tournament. In September 2024, Wong agreed to terms with the Utah Jazz; however, just eleven days later, on October 8, he was waived. Following this, on October 28, he found a new opportunity by joining the Salt Lake City Stars.

On November 23, Ball reached an incredible milestone by scoring a career-best 50 points, five rebounds and ten assists. Unfortunately, the Hornets faced a narrow defeat, ending the game at 125–119 against the Milwaukee Bucks. Remarkably, the Hornets star became the third-youngest player in NBA history to net 50 points in a single game.
