Cue the Kevin Durant to every NBA team in the league speculation. The Nets superstar has requested a trade out of Brooklyn, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Thursday.
It was a surprising development considering Kyrie Irving recently announced he’s opting into his 2022-23 player option to remain with the Nets this season. But Durant apparently is working with Brooklyn general manager Sean Marks to be dealt to a new team.
Durant has the Phoenix Suns listed as a preferred destination, but other reorts suggest he could be headed to another Eastern Conference team.
According to reports below, the Celtics and Nets may be negotiations surrounding a blockbuster deal involving Durant.

NBC Sports Boston’s Brian Scalabrine recently noted the Celtics could put together a strong trade package for Durant if they’re willing to part with Jaylen Brown.
That would be a hard pill to swallow after the team just played in the NBA Finals, but it is Kevin Durant.
“He loves Marcus Smart, he loves Ime Udoka, and he respects Jayson Tatum. There’s a lot of things going on here. It’s not just, ‘Ah, the Celtics are good.’ There’s real connection here.”
Durant averaged 29.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 6.4 assists this season, but he saw action in just 55 games during the regular season.
