Earlier this month, Anthony Davis was in the midst of his introductory press conference with the Los Angeles Lakers when he was asked about his plan to sign long-term with the franchise and he gave a brutally honest answer.
“When that time comes around next year, you can ask me that question, we can revisit it. Right now I’m focused on this year and how I can help this team and help the organization become a championship team,” he said.
That comment made a lot of people raise their eyebrows. Combine that with the fact that last week, Davis was at a Nike camp in his native Chicago and he didn’t completely shutdown ever signing there as a future free agent.
“I mean, (this is) definitely hometown,” he said, according to the Chicago Tribune when asked about possibly signing with the Bulls one day. “If the opportunity ever presents itself and when that time comes, I’d definitely consider it.”
Those comments don’t help after Jalen Rose went on ESPN’s GET UP and explained how no one should be surprised if Anthony Davis ends up with the Chicago Bulls.
“Guys are planning years ahead,” Rose said. “I’m gonna say this right now: Don’t be surprised if Anthony Davis ends up with the Bulls. We see Kawhi Leonard and Paul George go back to California, we see LeBron James go back to Cleveland. He’s already planting the seeds.”
