For those who thought the sports card market might be slowing down a bit, think again.
Over the weekend, yet another record-setting card sale was executed, as popular high-end collector Bolillo Lajan San sold a very rare Luka Doncic rookie card to fellow high-end collector, Nick Fiorella, for a whopping $4.6-million dollars.
More specifically, the card was a one-of-one Luka Doncic 2018-2019 Panini National Treasures Logoman Rookie Card, which was pulled by Layton Sports Cards during a live break back in May 2019.
Bolillo posted the details of his sale on his instagram account, adding that the final sale included a few other cards, which brought the grand total to $5.88-million.

The $4.6-million price for the Luka Doncic card set a new record for the highest price ever paid for a single basketball card, and it is the second-highest amount ever paid for a sports card, period — coming in just under the $5.2 million paid for a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card.
Bolillo was not the person who pulled the card on Layton Sports. Rather, he purchased the card from it’s original owner for an unknown price (believed to be over $400k, according to TMZ).
It just so happens that this record-breaking sale took place on Doncic’s 22nd birthday.
