While the Toronto Raptors were figuratively on fire tonight, their stadium was literally on fire.
The Raps’ home contest against the Indiana Pacers had to be suspended with just over four minutes remaining in the second quarter, as smoke began to fill Scotiabank Arena after a speaker caught on fire.
The stadium had to be evacuated as the fire department checked things out. The Toronto fire chief declared there was no threat to public safety.
The game has yet to resume but both sides are hoping to finish the contest if conditions are safe. However, if they are able to continue, it will likely be without any fans in attendance.
