Normally, a Canadian team winning a championship wouldn’t have any bearing on whether they were going to visit the White House or not, but this particular situation is different.
The Toronto Raptors are fresh off winning the 2019 NBA Title, but even though the team is based in Canada, not one single player is actually Canadian and the franchise belongs to an American Sports league.
After their win, questions began to arise on whether the team would visit Donald Trump’s White House.
Head coach Nick Nurse answered that question on Wednesday when he stated they are Canada’s team and will visit prime minister Justin Trudeau.
The past two NBA champions, which was the Golden State Warriors, elected to not visit Donald Trump after both victories.
Some of the game’s top stars have spoken out against Trump so it highly unlikely that any team that wins the NBA title will visit the White House at all.
