Imagine being at the top of your basketball career, and people are living to see you retire. This does not sound anywhere related to Stephen Curry, but it is. After the Golden State Warriors lost to the Toronto Raptors, head coach Darko Rajakovic opened up.
During the postgame press conference, Rajakovic humorously confessed that he can’t wait for the day Curry retires. After leading the Raptors to a 104-101 win over the Bay Area team, Darko seemed to be in full swing while making an honest confession.
“Steph Curry is a play that it’s a privilege for all of us to live in an era and to work in this era in the NBA when he is playing,” Rajakovic said. “I just told my coaching staff I’ve been playing against him for a long, long time. I can’t wait for him to retire. I’m going to get drunk that night, I promise you that. I’m going to celebrate,” he added.

Although it was honest of him to make the open admission. Throughout his coaching journey, Rajakovic has had many encounters with Curry. And now we can assume that it has kept him on his toes. As an assistant coach for the Oklahoma City Thunder, he faced Curry during the infamous 3-1 playoff comeback in 2016.
He met Curry again while coaching the Memphis Grizzlies in 2022. The two-time MVP has consistently posed challenges. However, since taking the helm with the Raptors in 2023, Rajakovic has found some success against Curry. He has a record of 1-2 in their matchups while managing to keep the scoring in check.
