The shooting guard, traditionally known for their scoring prowess, has adapted to the changing dynamics of the game, proving to be a valuable asset for any successful team throughout the history of the NBA.
Their scoring ability stretches the floor, creating offensive opportunities for the entire team. In an era where three-point shooting is king, the shooting guard’s accuracy from beyond the arc is vital to a team’s success.
30. Malik Beasley – Milwaukee Bucks
#30 not much we can say about Malik Beasley but I guess we will see what happens on a new team
29. Duncan Robinson – Miami Heat
After a string of DNPs last season, Robinson was thrust into the spotlight in the postseason due to Herro and Oladipo’s injuries. The sharpshooter remarkably found his groove and was a huge factor in Miami’s finals run.
28. Anthony Black – Orlando Magic

After displaying his potential in the Summer League, fans are hyped about Black’s incoming rookie campaign in the association. He will share the ball with Markelle Fultz as Black is also an exceptional passer for his position.
27. Terry Rozier – Charlotte Hornets
Rozier has been the starting shooting guard for the Hornets for quite some time now but it generally feels like the team could do much better in this position. He’s good but not enough to be considered great.
26. Jaden Ivey – Detroit Pistons
Ivey had a solid rookie season with Detroit last season. A natural point guard, he had to slide to the number two spot as Cunningham is expected to be healthy this year. If both players can figure out how to coexist, then the Pistons fans are in for a treat next year.
25. Quentin Grimes – New York Knicks
Nobody expected Grimes to play heavy minutes with the Knicks last year but Coach Thibs likes what he brings on the floor on a nightly basis. Although a little bit undersized for the position, Grimes makes it up with his hustle on both ends of the court.
24. Devin Vassell – San Antonio Spurs
The underrated Vassell has largely flown under the radar for the Spurs over the past couple of years. He is a proven scorer despite being at a relatively young age of 23. If he stays healthy, you can bank on his potential to become better scorer.
23. Benedict Mathurin – Indiana Pacers
With Buddy Hield on the trading block, Mathurin will definitely slide into the starting spot for Indiana next season. He was great during the first half of last season but struggled afterward. With his rookie campaign behind him, expect him to rise again next year.
22. Kevin Huerter – Sacramento Kings
Huerter’s rise is a testament that the right system could potentially unlock your game if you buy into it. He’s now considered one of the best catch-and-shoot guys in the league for the rising Sacramento Kings.
21. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope – Denver Nuggets
KCP was a valuable member for Denver during their title run last season. He isn’t expected to score much but he is an efficient player due to his hustle and timely three-point shots.
20. Anfernee Simons – Portland Trail Blazers
While Simons may never become an all-star caliber player, he will definitely continue to be a solid scorer for the majority of his career. A bit undersized for the spot, Simons makes it up for his craftiness to create shots anywhere on the court.
19. Jordan Clarkson – Utah Jazz
Clarkson has been a lethal scorer for most of his career and he could get hot on any given night. He’s kind of one-dimensional but the Jazz need his production in order to make the playoffs next season.
18. Jordan Poole – Washington Wizards
Poole will probably put up some crazy numbers next season as he’s expected to be the go-to guy of the Wizards. The only problem with him is inconsistency and his tendency to take bad shots.
17. O.G. Anunoby – Toronto Raptors
Anunoby is one of the hottest names in the league right now due to the rise of his offensive game. He’s a solid defender too and does not shy away from guarding the best players from opposing teams.
16. Austin Reaves – Los Angeles Lakers
Reaves’ rise from being an undrafted player is an inspiration for everybody that hard work pays off if the right opportunity comes along. He was an integral part of Team USA this summer and that momentum will surely carry on to next season with the Lakers.
15. James Harden – Philadelphia 76ers
Harden isn’t traded yet despite his insistence of his desire to get out of Philadelphia. He’s no longer the scoring machine he once was but could still put up decent numbers when he’s up for it.
14. Marcus Smart – Memphis Grizzlies
Smart will definitely slide into the shooting guard spot with Memphis where he will bring his usual tenacity on both ends of the floor. He may be the missing piece this team needs in order to get over the hump next season.
13. Jalen Green – Houston Rockets
Green’s rise will continue with the Rockets and there’s optimism that new head coach Ime Udoka could unlock his potential as a player next season. He’s young but poised to lead Houston in the scoring department for years to come.
12. Zach LaVine – Chicago Bulls
This may be it for LaVine as a player in terms of potential but Chicago shouldn’t fret as he’s one of the best scorers in the league today. While he’s proven that he could be the number one scoring option for a team, it’s uncertain if he’s able to lead the team into contender status.
11. Dejounte Murray – Atlanta Hawks
The Murray-Young pairing had its ups and downs last season as both players are natural point guards in their DNA. But there’s no doubt that Coach Snyder will figure things out with a full training camp ahead.
10. Brandon Ingram – New Orleans Pelicans
If Ingram sets his mind to it, he’s capable of being a top 20 player in the league. He can shoot, create his own shot, defend and get to the line with ease. He just needs a little more tenacity in his game.
9. Josh Giddey – Oklahoma City Thunder
Shai and Giddey often share the responsibility of running the point for OKC but the young Australian guard takes the spot here due to the meteoric rise in his game. He’s a nightly triple-double threat and a matchup nightmare for any team.
8. Paul George – Los Angeles Clippers
George is one of the league’s best two-way players but the glaring problem about him is his ability to stay healthy for an entire season. Of course, the brutal injury he suffered years ago may have played a part in his inconsistency but he’s still an unstoppable force once he gets in his groove.
7. Klay Thompson – Golden State Warriors
With Poole now gone, expect that Thompson will have the freedom again to shoot more. Plus, with the addition of Chris Paul, Thompson will be as open as he’s been in his career.
6. Mikal Bridges – Brooklyn Nets
Bridges’ rise should not be considered as a fluke. He is entering his prime and will be Brooklyn’s primary offensive weapon next season. In addition, many consider him a top-three two-way player today.
5. Jaylen Brown – Boston Celtics
While Brown’s tendency to fade in the big moments was brutally called out by Boston fans, there’s still room to grow for the relatively young guy. If he can make his left hand a threat, then Boston may win it all next year.
4. Anthony Edwards – Minnesota Timberwolves
ANT’s rise perfectly aligns with Minnesota’s timeline. While he’s nowhere near the status of the late Kobe Bryant, Edwards is clearly emulating the Black Mamba’s mantra to his game and is striving to become one of the best in the league.
3. Donovan Mitchell – Cleveland Cavaliers
Despite Mitchell’s size, he is probably the most dynamic shooting guard in the league right now. Scoring 71 points was crazy and there’s no doubt that he could replicate that mind-blowing performance next season.
2. Devin Booker – Phoenix Suns
Booker is well-known for his scoring but he further elevated his game by getting his teammates more involved on the offensive end. The growth in his game will especially become handy now that Beal and Durant are in Phoenix.
1. Kyrie Irving – Dallas Mavericks
The Mavs have the best backcourt in the league with the Luka-Kyrie pairing. Irving is one of the best scorers in the league and is widely considered the best ball-handler the game has ever seen. Dallas will undoubtedly score a ton next season and we’re all in for a great ride.
