Week 6 of NBA basketball is done and this season’s contenders are stamping their mark in the league. The upper tier teams are beginning to show their dominance while some are also struggling due to the condensed schedule and competition.
Today, we will take a look at the ranking of all 30 NBA teams after week 6. This is going to be an exciting list so let’s get into it.
30. Detroit Pistons (Last Week’s Rank: 30)
Detroit failed to win a single game in November. The team is relatively healthy but their losing ways continued despite the efforts of coach Monty Williams to give some young guys more minutes.
29. San Antonio Spurs (Last Week’s Rank: 28)
If the Pistons failed to win a game last month, the Spurs have yet to win a game since the 3rd of November. Wembanyama is out for a few games and this could mean that their losing streak will continue for a little longer.
28. Washington Wizards (Last Week’s Rank: 29)

The Wizards move up a spot in this list due to their win against the lowly Pistons this past week. Both carried an ugly losing streak and one has to win. Luckily for the Wizards, they avoided infamy and won the game.
27. Memphis Grizzlies (Last Week’s Rank: 27)
The Grizzlies had a respectable week, going 2-2 but sadly, it failed to move them up in this week’s rankings. They still have a ton of problems in their roster construction and Ja Morant is still a few weeks away from playing.
26. Portland Trail Blazers (Last Week’s Rank: 26)
The Blazers had some impressive wins this past week against the Pacers and the Cavaliers. But truth be told, they are past salvation at this point. Deandre Ayton failed to show that he could be an anchor for this team this season.
25. Charlotte Hornets (Last Week’s Rank: 23)
Without LaMelo Ball, this Hornets team is just plain bad. Nobody on the roster is capable of replicating what he brings on a nightly basis and they have suffered for it in week 6.
24. Utah Jazz (Last Week’s Rank: 24)
Without Markkanen and Clarkson, the Jazz looked lost on the offensive end. They still managed to win a couple of games with their depleted roster but they are finding it hard to replicate their success last season.
23. Chicago Bulls (Last Week’s Rank: 25)
The Bulls won a couple of games in a row and one of them was against the mighty Bucks. That’s quite an impressive feat considering that Zach LaVine sat out in their recent success on the court.
22. Toronto Raptors (Last Week’s Rank: 22)
The Raptors aren’t bad but it’s safe to say that they are mediocre at best. Even with Siakam and Barnes leading them on a nightly basis, their bench rotation has been shallow and uninspiring.
21. Golden State Warriors (Last Week’s Rank: 18)
The Warriors are struggling right now after a hot start at the beginning of the season. Klay Thompson’s jump shot isn’t falling and Andrew Wiggins has been inconsistent since the start of the season.
20. Atlanta Hawks (Last Week’s Rank: 19)
This is quite a huge drop for the Hawks as they were around the top 15 of the rankings at the start of this season. They have proven they could score against the best but it hasn’t translated into wins as of late.
19. Brooklyn Nets (Last Week’s Rank: 20)
Mikal Bridges is balling right now and is aiming for an all-star nod this season. Plus, dynamic scorer Cam Thomas is back in the fold.
18. Los Angeles Clippers (Last Week’s Rank: 21)
While the Clippers only posted a 2-2 record this past week, they somewhat proved that they have what it takes to take on quality teams whenever they are engaged. Wins against the Kings and the Warriors were impressive enough to warrant their jump in week 6.
17. New Orleans Pelicans (Last Week’s Rank: 17)
If the duo of Ingram and Williamson gets it going, they are quite a hard to stop. In addition, it’s great to see CJ McCollum back on the court.
16. Houston Rockets (Last Week’s Rank: 12)
Houston failed to register a win in week 6 and their morale might be a little low right now. They are a competitive bunch and their losing spell might end soon because of it.
15. Indiana Pacers (Last Week’s Rank: 14)
The Pacers are one of the best teams to follow this season as they are a high-scoring bunch. However, their scoring prowess only led them to a 1-2 record this week. The good news is that Tyrese Haliburton is asserting his claim as the best point guard in the East right now.
14. Cleveland Cavaliers (Last Week’s Rank: 15)
Cleveland went 3-1 but the three wins came at the expense of lowly teams such as the Raptors, the Hawks and the Pistons. But it’s a positive note nonetheless.
13. Los Angeles Lakers (Last Week’s Rank: 16)
Despite being blown out by the Sixers this past week, the Lakers still had a respectable week. Anthony Davis is showing signs of dominance and they need him in order to be considered a legitimate threat in the Western Conference this season.
12. Miami Heat (Last Week’s Rank: 9)
This was a subpar week for the Heat but there are still a lot of positives going in their way. One of them is the surprising play of rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr. He’s been solid for them this season and we just can’t get enough of his new nickname which is ‘Juan Wick.’
11. Phoenix Suns (Last Week’s Rank: 13)
The Suns are showing that they are one of the best teams in the West but it’s hard to measure their success as their big three have not yet played a single minute together this season. It’s often the Durant-Booker show for them.
10. Dallas Mavericks (Last Week’s Rank: 8)
After a surprising start in the season, the Mavs are in a slump recently. Their overreliance on rookie Dereck Lively has been a huge red flag to begin with. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving have been great for them but the rest of the team are struggling as of late.
9. Sacramento Kings (Last Week’s Rank: 10)
The Kings are thriving recently. Malik Monk, the frontrunner for the 6th Man of the Year award, has been playing great for them. They are seriously poised to make a deep run in the playoffs this season.
8. New York Knicks (Last Week’s Rank: 11)
The Knicks are starting to show that last season’s success was not a fluke. They are on a roll right now and it’s hard to stop them once they get it going. Randle has been amazing so far since his ugly shooting slump to start the year.
7. Philadelphia 76ers (Last Week’s Rank: 5)
The Sixers are on a slide right now but that could be attributed to Embiid and Maxey’s absence. Expect them to bounce back once they are healthy as they are one of the best duos this season in the entire league.
6. Orlando Magic (Last Week’s Rank: 6)
This young Magic team has proven that they are capable of handling lower-tier teams in the league. They could also play their best whenever they are matched with higher-caliber teams. They are currently number two in the East.
5. Denver Nuggets (Last Week’s Rank: 3)
Despite missing the services of Jamal Murray, the Nuggets survived a tough week 6 of basketball. Nikola Jokic is arguably the best player in the league right now and his brilliance has kept his team afloat in recent weeks.
4. Milwaukee Bucks (Last Week’s Rank: 4)
The Bucks are on a good rhythm right now. They are slowly showing their might and potential against their opponents. There’s no doubt that they are one of the best teams in the league this season.
3. Oklahoma City Thunder (Last Week’s Rank: 3)
A 30-0 run by the Mavs? That’s not a problem for OKC. They proved that they are capable of executing at clutch time when it matters the most. It’s not just Shai but the rest of these young guys are proving their worth within the league.
2. Minnesota Timberwolves (Last Week’s Rank: 2)
Who would have thought that the Wolves are the number one team in the West right now? They are playing unselfish basketball and that has played a huge part in their success this season. The biggest problem right now for them is Anthony Edwards’ injury concern.
1. Boston Celtics (Last Week’s Rank: 1)
The Celtics retain their top spot in this week’s rankings. This is a deep team that cannot wait until the playoffs are in town as they are that good. They arguably have the best starting five in the league right now. Their weaknesses are hard to exploit and that’s a testament to their pedigree as a team.
