Week 10 of basketball is done and 2024 has finally arrived. One of the top stories at the end of 2023 was Detroit’s legendary losing streak ending. Other teams are making their moves as well to get at the top of the standings.
Today, we will take a look at the ranking of all 30 NBA teams after week 10.
30. Detroit Pistons (Last Week’s Rank: 30)
Detroit finally ended their historic 28-game losing streak with a win against the struggling Raptors before 2023 ended. They had a chance to end it a couple of days prior but were outlasted by the Celtics in overtime.
29. San Antonio Spurs (Last Week’s Rank: 29)
The Spurs are limping at the end of 2023. They won 1 game this past week but lost three times. Zach Collins is out for at least a month due to an ankle injury.
28. Washington Wizards (Last Week’s Rank: 28)

Washington managed to squeak past Brooklyn in week 10 but the losses are still piling up for them. It’ll be interesting to see if they’ll move a couple of players before the trade deadline to improve their roster.
27. Charlotte Hornets (Last Week’s Rank: 27)
The Hornets now have lost 10 straight games and haven’t won a game in almost a month. LaMelo Ball is still out with an injury and it’s safe to say that this is another wasted season for the young franchise.
26. Portland Trail Blazers (Last Week’s Rank: 26)
Portland continued their resurgence with wins over the Kings and the Spurs. Even with an incomplete lineup, they are showing that they could play against top-tier teams without getting blown out.
25. Memphis Grizzlies (Last Week’s Rank: 25)
After much optimism with Ja Morant’s superb play, the Grizzlies are in a slump right now. They have lost three straight games and all of those losses were in double digits. It will take a miracle for them to turn their season around.
24. Toronto Raptors (Last Week’s Rank: 23)
Losing to the hapless Pistons was a huge blow to Toronto. The loss was definitely an embarrassing moment for this once-proud franchise. In addition, they traded OG Anunoby to the Knicks in the hopes of salvaging this season.
23. Atlanta Hawks (Last Week’s Rank: 22)
Even with Trae Young putting up great numbers, the Hawks are still sliding further down the standings. With this team’s lack of success this season, is it time to trade Dejounte Murray? Several teams are coveting his skillset and the return could be bountiful for Atlanta.
22. Utah Jazz (Last Week’s Rank: 24)
The Jazz are playing well in the last couple of weeks. The tweak to their starting lineup has surprisingly worked and their bench play has been great too. They still have enough time to turn their season around if they can sustain their fine play.
21. Brooklyn Nets (Last Week’s Rank: 20)
Brooklyn is struggling mightily right now after their fiery start this season. Cam Thomas has been demoted to the bench. Mikal Bridges is still learning how to be a consistent scorer in this league.
20. Chicago Bulls (Last Week’s Rank: 21)
Chicago went 2-2 this past week but they are looking confident in the losses. Zach LaVine is still out but the team has found immediate success without him. Andre Drummond has stepped up his game tremendously with Nikola Vucevic out.
19. Golden State Warriors (Last Week’s Rank: 18)
Losers of three straight, the Warriors are finding it hard to win against teams with a .500 or above record. After seemingly getting his shots falling, Klay Thompson’s game is now in shambles. To say that he’s struggling is a huge understatement.
18. Houston Rockets (Last Week’s Rank: 15)
It’s hard to gauge Houston’s capabilities. They know how to play great but they also know how to play like one of the worst teams in the league. Sengun has been a consistent bright spot for them this season.
17. Los Angeles Lakers (Last Week’s Rank: 16)
The Lakers now have gone 3-8 since winning the In-Season Tournament. Rumors are swirling that they’ll make some significant moves before the trade deadline. LeBron is still playing superbly at 39 but he definitely needs their role players to step up now.
16. Indiana Pacers (Last Week’s Rank: 17)
After struggling for a bit, the Pacers now have won three straight games. Tyrese Haliburton posted back-to-back 20 points, and 20 assists nights and became just the third player to do so in the history of the league.
15. New York Knicks (Last Week’s Rank: 11)
This is not what the Knicks had in mind to close out 2023. They have lost three straight games and are looking at a very tough schedule in the first week of January. Did they give up too early on RJ Barrett and Emmanuel Quickley in their trade to acquire OG Anunoby from Toronto?
14. Phoenix Suns (Last Week’s Rank: 18)
The Suns are turning a new leaf ever since Bradley Beal came back after his injury woes. They have looked dominant in their recent winning streak. Are they capable of sustaining their recent success in 2024? Maybe they could.
13. Cleveland Cavaliers (Last Week’s Rank: 14)
The Cavs just went 1-1 this past week, but one of them was against Luka Doncic and the Mavs. Even with a decimated roster, the win against the Mavs came as a huge surprise. They are on the right track as of late.
12. New Orleans Pelicans (Last Week’s Rank: 13)
With everybody healthy, New Orleans finished 2023 strong. They are primed to make a nice run in 2024 and build a strong momentum for the team. It’s nice to see this team in full strength as they have the potential to be great.
11. Miami Heat (Last Week’s Rank: 12)
Miami is becoming a contender right before our eyes after a substandard start to the season. Their role players are one of the best in the league and with Tyler Herro’s newfound confidence, they are tough to stop.
10. Dallas Mavericks (Last Week’s Rank: 10)
The Mavs are struggling a bit despite Luka Doncic’s brilliance on the court. But good news is on the way because Kyrie Irving’s progress is ramping up and he may be able to suit up again this week.
9. Orlando Magic (Last Week’s Rank: 9)
The Magic are slowly recapturing their glory as of late. Things have started to look up for the team, beating quality opponents in the last week of December. Banchero is solidifying his claim as the star of this young team.
8. Sacramento Kings (Last Week’s Rank: 7)
After their uninspired play in their loss against the Blazers, the Kings flipped a switch and soundly defeated Atlanta and Memphis to end 2023. Sabonis is lowkey having himself an all-star caliber season.
7. Los Angeles Clippers (Last Week’s Rank: 9)
The Clippers are now sitting at the 4th spot in the West even without the presence of Kawhi Leonard in the past couple of weeks. Trading for James Harden has become fruitful as he’s been playing well for them as of late.
6. Denver Nuggets (Last Week’s Rank: 6)
It looks like Denver will have a hard time cracking into the top two spots in the West but we all know that the standings don’t really much matter for them. This is a great team with a huge chance to repeat for a championship this season.
5. Philadelphia 76ers (Last Week’s Rank: 4)
Tyrese Maxey should get an all-star nod this season. He’s grown to become Joel Embiid’s sidekick this season and is also considered one of the best young players throughout the entire league.
4. Oklahoma City Thunder (Last Week’s Rank: 5)
Everybody’s hesitating to call them as contenders this season but there’s no denying that this young Thunder team is one of the best in the league. They play fast and smart and their actions toward each other are genuine. They’ll be a huge problem for any team facing them in the playoffs.
3. Minnesota Timberwolves (Last Week’s Rank: 2)
The Wolves remain at the top spot in the Western Conference but OKC is just a couple of games behind them. Anthony Edwards is perhaps the best shooting guard in the league right now. They are poised to make a serious run at the title this season.
2. Milwaukee Bucks (Last Week’s Rank: 3)
Giannis is a monster and one of the best players in the world today. Damian Lillard is also on a roll lately. After a tough start this season, it looks like Khris Middleton is slowly recapturing his old form for the Bucks.
1. Boston Celtics (Last Week’s Rank: 1)
The Celtics had some tough games this past week but as expected, they managed to push through adversity. They are on a six-game winning streak right now despite some of their starters missing due to rest. They are looking scarier with each passing week.
