Rachel Nichols recently recalled a shameful encounter she had with an executive at a former workplace.
Nichols, who is probably best known for her time at ESPN, recently made an appearance on ‘South Beach Sessions’ with Dan Le Batard, where she discussed a conversation she had with someone operating in said post while she was pregnant.
The sportscaster said she waited a while to tell her employers at the time that she was expecting as she suspected it wouldn’t go down well.
“When I was pregnant, I waited so long to tell them. I waited so long because I knew that this was not going to be good for me professionally,” she said. “I was married for ten years before I decided to have kids, and a big part of that consideration was, ‘Do I want a little human in my life?’ but also ‘How is this going to affect the thing that I’ve scrapped for, that I’ve worked for so hard?'”
The executive, whom she did not name, is said to have immediately cast doubt on Rachel’s future at the company.

“I had the executive look at me and say, ‘This is great, congratulations, I’m so happy for you, it’s been so nice working with you.'”
She also claimed she was told that she was “not really going to be able to do the job” if she had a child as it would disrupt her schedule.
Nichols has landed multiple gigs following her departure from ESPN, including on FS1’s repackaged ‘Undisputed.” While she did not name the exec or the company, many fans believe the incident occurred while she was with The Worldwide Leader in Sports.
