The daughter of former NBA player Corey Benjamin was captured on video sucker-punching an opponent during a youth basketball game last year.
Hunt yelled at her daughter from the stands during the Nov. 7 game, telling her daughter “you better hit her for that.” Moments later, the daughter struck the other girl in the head, causing her to fall to the floor.
The mother of that teenage girl could be heard telling her daughter to attack and she was facing some very serious charges because of her actions.
Tira Hunt, whose full name is Latira Shonty Hunt, had been charged with misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and battery for allegedly urging her daughter from the stands to hit the other girl. She faced up to a year in jail if convicted.
However, an Orange County Superior Court judge approved a diversion program where she must issue written apologies to the victim, her parents and the two basketball teams involved. She also must go through anger management classes before returning to any of her daughters basketball games. That is also in an addition to having to pay $9,000 in restitution to the teen victim, per TMZ Sports.
Benjamin, who was present for that game, has already issued an apology for his daughter’s behavior.
