President Trump has never been on board with athletes kneeling as he proved with his battle with the NFL back in 2016.
Fast forward to 2020 and he still dislikes it as he stated he wouldn’t watch if people didn’t stand for the anthem, saying “Any time I witness a player kneeling during the National Anthem, a sign of great disrespect for our Country and our Flag, the game is over for me.”
Since then, we’ve seen countelss players from the NBA, MLB, and NHL kneel during the Anthem and wear Black Lives Matter t-shirts.
New Orleans Pelicans guard JJ Redick told Yahoo Sports that NBA players don’t care what President Trump thinks, saying “First of all, I don’t think anybody in the NBA cares if President Trump watches basketball.”
On Tuesday, Trump took to Twitter and chimed in on this topic yet again, tweeting “People are not happy that players are not standing for our National Anthem!”
You can fully expect 100’s of players to participate in the kneeling once the 2020 NFL season comes around.
