Our heart goes out to everyone affected by the Pacific Palisades, especially to Steve Kerr and his family. The Golden State Warriors head coach received devastating news about his childhood home. This news came amid the ongoing wildfires ravaging the Los Angeles area. Kerr discovered that the Palisades fire tragically burned his family residence.

According to a text message shared by his mother, Ann, with close friends and family, the loss of the home has added to the emotional toll of the already dire situation. Mandatory orders forced Ann Kerr to evacuate, but she is currently safe with family and friends.

Kerr spent a significant part of his youth in Pacific Palisades. Before embarking on a 15-season NBA career, he thrived in the community. He also excelled on the basketball court at nearby Palisades High School. Along with Kerr, Kawhi Leonard, and Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick, they are also dealing with the repercussions of this natural disaster.

In light of the ongoing disaster, NBA spokesman Mike Bass confirmed that discussions are ongoing between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Charlotte Hornets regarding potential adjustments to their schedule. The two teams are scheduled to meet on Thursday evening, as Shams Charania of ESPN reported. Additionally, Lakers superstar LeBron James was one of several individuals who shared messages of support on social media for those impacted by the fires.

Social Media Pours In Prayers For Steve Kerr’s Family

The internet has been buzzing with concerns after the Pacific Palisades wildfires devastated many. The fires have wreaked havoc across Los Angeles County and destroyed over 1,000 structures, forcing thousands of residents, including Kerr’s family, to evacuate. Fans rallied in support of Steve Kerr’s mother after reports surfaced on X (formerly Twitter).

“Steve Kerr’s childhood home in Pacific Palisades where his 90-year old mother, Ann, still lives was “tragically burned” in the fire and she was forced to evacuate to safety,” a fan commented.

“I’m glad she got out safe,” a fan wrote. 

“Terrible, but good to know that she’s safe,” another one added.

“Every home lost in this fire is a lifetime of memories gone,” a user commented.

“At least she’s safe tbh he can always buy her another one when stuff clears up,” a fan reminded.

“He should take a break from coaching and spend time with her and check up on her,” read another comment.

Additionally, with wildfires raging across Los Angeles County, the NBA is stepping up to prioritize the safety of its players and staff. Following the NHL’s recent decision to postpone the Los Angeles Kings-Calgary Flames game, the NBA is carefully evaluating the upcoming Lakers’ matchup against the Charlotte Hornets. As the fires spread, fueled by intense Santa Ana winds, the sports world is coming together to lend support.
